How to Convert Images to PDF on Any Device
Whether you need to send scanned documents, combine photos into a portfolio, or convert a JPG for a job application that requires PDF — converting images to PDF is one of the most common file tasks. Here's how to do it on every device, for free.
Why Convert Images to PDF?
Images and PDFs serve different purposes. A JPG is a single photo — great for sharing quickly, but not ideal for professional submissions. A PDF can contain multiple pages, preserves formatting across all devices, and is the standard format for job applications, university submissions, contracts, and official documents.
The most common reasons to convert images to PDF:
- A job application portal accepts only PDF, but your CV is a JPG scan
- You need to combine multiple photos (certificate, ID, passport) into one file
- You scanned documents on your phone and need to send them as a single PDF
- A university submission system requires PDF format only
- You want to share a photo gallery that can't be altered or resized
Method 1: Online (No Software Needed)
The fastest method on any device with a browser. Our Image to PDF tool converts and combines images entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to any server.
- Open the Image to PDF tool
- Upload one or more JPG, PNG, or WebP images
- Drag to reorder if you're combining multiple images
- Choose page size (A4, Letter, or fit-to-image) and orientation
- Click Convert to PDF and download the result
💡 Tip: If your resulting PDF is too large, run it through the Compress PDF tool to reduce file size before submitting.
Method 2: Windows (Built-in Print to PDF)
Windows 10 and 11 include a built-in "Microsoft Print to PDF" printer that converts any printable content — including images — to PDF without any extra software.
- Open the image file in Windows Photos or any viewer
- Press Ctrl+P to open the Print dialog
- Set the printer to Microsoft Print to PDF
- Click Print, choose a save location, and click Save
Limitation: this method creates one PDF per image. To combine multiple images, use the online method or a dedicated tool.
Method 3: Mac (Built-in Print to PDF)
macOS has built-in PDF export in every Print dialog — no extra software needed.
- Open the image in Preview (double-click the file)
- Press ⌘P to print
- Click the PDF dropdown at the bottom-left of the dialog
- Choose Save as PDF
To combine multiple images: open them all in Preview, select all thumbnails in the sidebar, then drag them into one document before exporting as PDF.
Method 4: iPhone and iPad
- Open the Photos app and select the image(s) you want to convert
- Tap the Share icon (square with an arrow up)
- Scroll down and tap Print
- On the Print Options screen, use a two-finger pinch-out gesture on the preview thumbnail
- This opens the image as a PDF — tap Share and save to Files
Alternatively, use the Image to PDF tool in Safari on iOS — it works fully in the mobile browser.
Method 5: Android
- Open the image in the Gallery or Photos app
- Tap the three-dot menu → Print
- Change the printer to Save as PDF
- Tap the PDF button and choose a save location
As with iOS, the browser-based Image to PDF tool works well on Android Chrome for combining multiple images.
Tips for a Clean Output
Use high-resolution originals
If the image will be printed or read on a large screen, start with at least 150 DPI. Avoid upscaling low-resolution photos.
Choose the right page size
A4 is the standard for most professional documents outside North America. Letter (8.5×11") is the US standard.
Compress after converting
Image-heavy PDFs can be large. Run through a PDF compressor to bring the size down before submitting.
Check the page order
When combining multiple images, verify the page order before downloading — especially for multi-page documents.
