Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2025

Overview

Webkitters ("we", "our", or "the site") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect as little as possible, we do not sell your data, and your files never leave your device.

1. Your Files Are Never Uploaded

All file processing on Webkitters — images, PDFs, and any other files — happens entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript. When you open a file with one of our tools, the file is read into browser memory using the File API. It is processed locally (e.g., resized with the Canvas API, or manipulated with PDF-lib), and the result is returned to you as a download — all without any network request carrying your file.

We operate no file upload servers, no cloud storage, and no processing pipelines. Your images, documents, and data never leave your device.

2. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information to operate and improve the site:

  • Anonymous usage analytics — via Google Analytics 4, we collect page views and approximate session data (country, browser type, device type). This data is aggregated and anonymised; no personally identifiable information is collected.
  • Theme preference — we store your light/dark mode preference in your browser's localStorage. This stays on your device and is never sent to us.
  • Contact form submissions — if you use our contact form, your name, email address, and message are submitted to Web3Forms for delivery. We retain these only as long as necessary to respond to your enquiry.

3. Cookies

Webkitters itself does not set any first-party tracking cookies. We use localStorage (not cookies) for the theme preference.

Third-party services embedded on the site (Google AdSense, Google Analytics) may set their own cookies as described in their respective privacy policies. You can manage or block these cookies through your browser settings or a browser extension.

4. Google AdSense

We may display advertisements through Google AdSense. When enabled, Google AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info.

5. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use Webkitters — which tools are popular, which countries visitors come from, and how pages perform. IP addresses are anonymised. We do not use Google Analytics to collect personal identifiers. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Third-Party Libraries and CDNs

Some tools load JavaScript libraries from third-party CDN providers (such as jsDelivr or cdnjs). When your browser requests these libraries, the CDN may log your IP address and request metadata in accordance with its own privacy policy. These requests are limited to loading code; no file content is transmitted.

We load libraries over HTTPS and use Subresource Integrity (SRI) hashes where available to ensure library integrity.

7. Data Retention

We do not store your files or processing results. Contact form submissions are retained only for as long as necessary to respond, typically no longer than 90 days. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' default retention period (14 months) and is aggregated — it does not identify individual users.

8. Children's Privacy

Webkitters is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our contact form, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete data we hold about you. Because we collect almost no personal data, most requests can be fulfilled simply by clearing your browser's local storage (which removes your theme preference) and disabling analytics cookies via your browser settings.

For any data-related requests or questions, please use our contact form.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Webkitters after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

11. Contact

If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please reach out via our contact page. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
