How to Reorder PDF Pages

  1. Drop your PDF in, or click to choose one.
  2. Wait a moment while every page is rendered as a thumbnail.
  3. Drag a page to a new position, or use the arrows under it.
  4. Use Reverse or Reset order if you need to start over.
  5. Click Save Reordered PDF and download the result.

Your PDF is never uploaded to a server. Everything happens locally.

Why pages end up in the wrong order

Scanned back to front

A sheet-feed scanner that grabs the stack from the bottom produces a perfectly good PDF in exactly the wrong order. Reverse fixes the whole thing in one click.

Double-sided in two passes

Scanning all the fronts, then all the backs, gives you 1,3,5…,2,4,6. Every even page needs to move up between two odd ones — tedious by hand, quick by dragging.

Merged in the wrong sequence

Files combined in whatever order the file picker sorted them, which is usually alphabetical rather than the order you meant.

A page belongs elsewhere

An appendix that should be at the back, a cover sheet that ended up second, a signature page filed in the middle.

Reordering does not touch the pages

Worth knowing, because it is the opposite of how PDF compression works here. Nothing is re-rendered: pdf-lib copies the existing page objects into a new document in the order you chose. The text stays selectable, images keep their original resolution, and the file size barely changes.

The thumbnails you drag are throwaway previews drawn by PDF.js so you can see what you are moving. They are never part of the saved file.

One real limitation: internal bookmarks and link destinations are not carried over, because the pages they pointed at have moved. Anything drawn on the page itself — text, images, annotations — comes through exactly as it was.

FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The pages are rendered with PDF.js and rewritten with pdf-lib, both running inside your browser. The file never leaves your device, so there is no upload wait and no copy of your document on anyone else's disk.

How do I move a page on a phone?

Dragging needs a mouse, so every thumbnail also has arrow buttons that move it one place left or right. Those work the same on touch and are often quicker than dragging even on a desktop when you only need to nudge one page.

Can I reverse the whole document?

Yes — Reverse flips the entire order in one click. Useful for documents scanned back-to-front, which is the single most common reason people end up here.

Does reordering lose quality?

No. Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed. The page objects are copied into a new document in your chosen order, so the pages are byte-for-byte what they were, including selectable text.

Can I delete a page while I am here?

This tool only reorders. To drop pages use Remove PDF Pages, or to keep only a range use Extract PDF Pages — both linked below.

What happens to bookmarks and links?

Internal bookmarks and link destinations are not carried across, because the pages they point at have moved. The page content itself — text, images, annotations drawn on the page — is preserved exactly.
